Autódromo Río Pequeño Corto

Autódromo Río Pequeño Corto was built as a private playground for mexican drug lord Juan Sanchez Valasquez back in the seventies. Allthough used occasionally for a few years, it was soon abandoned and forgotten when Valasquez was arrested and imprisoned in the USA in the early eighties. After serving 25 years in a high security prison, Valasquez was diagnosed with lung cancer and only a few months left to live. On his death bed he finally disclosed the whereabouts of his secret ranch in Mexico.

The ranch was torn to pieces by the mexican police, and in addition to truckloads of both drugs and money, they also found this old racetrack on the property. After closing the investigation, the ranch and the racetrack was put on the market. However, the remote and deserted location did not atract buyers. Finally, the ranch was posted on ebay with no reserve. I placed a bid of and ended up as the winner with a final bid of $420.

However, having my family and friends in Norway, moving to Mexico is not an option. But rather than leaving the track to rot, I decided to make it available to the public as a playground for drifters and street racers. As the track itself is pretty useless, I’ve paved the inner section of the track and made a small drift layout with roadblocks and tires.

The track will be open 24h free of charge. All I ask is that you keep it nice and tidy. Remember, your mother doesn’t work here (unless you are Miquel Sanchez, son of Rosalita Sanchez, in which case she asked me to tell you that dinner is at seven and you have to get that cylinder head out of the living room right now – or else…)
